When this happens and depending on the level that is affected, there are certain things that we are going to notice. First we might notice pain. For example, if the disc herniation is in the cervical spine, we may notice neck pain. We also may notice a loss of range of motion and muscle tightening that occurs. Also there may be muscle weakness, numbness and tingling, shooting pains, reflex changes and a change of sensation along the nerve root that is affected.
