Sometimes when you're away from home back pain can be difficult. One must focus on keeping the back loose when you wake up, and make sure you have the optimal sleep position, not to mention being cautious in between those times.
At night, try a pillow under the knees to reduce back tension. Put one between the legs when on your side. When you are acute (in other words, really hurting), try your best to get rest. This is the first priority and if it means sleeping in the recliner, do it!
In the morning let the hot shower soak on the sore part of your back for a few extra minutes in the morning. Use some ice to that area at the end of the day. Ice is an all-natural anti-inflammatory.
During the day be especially careful with the activity you're doing. Even if your back feels fine now, take it easy for that day to ensure good healing.
