Dear Arc4life, Hi, I have the following issues with my neck and I am hoping you can help me with the best advice for pillow choice: Disc protrusion between C4/6, C5/6 and C6/7. Spinal cord displacement. Compression of left C7 nerve root. I am a 6'1 broad shouldered male and am not sure which pillow to choose. Can you please help me? Thanks J.D, 2/4/2017
J.D, thank you for contacting us. First check with your Dr to make sure you are cleared to do gentle neck traction. Here is the pillow we would recommend for you: The arc4life cervical linear traction neck pillow, size large (dimensions are 28” x 17”, with thickness of 3-5”).
The Arc4life traction pillow helps particularly well for patients who have nerve root compression as you have mentioned above. I would actually also recommend some type of gentle neck traction as well. You may need to start using the pillow very slowly until you fully adjust to sleeping with the pillow the whole night. In that case, start by sleeping on support side of the pillow for 5-10 min maximum. One other thing that will be helpful: If you are just starting out doing neck traction, use the traction V Side of the pillow. Just lay on your back, sleep on the V Side of the pillow. Set a timer for 20-25 minutes.
