According to recent guidelines set by the National Sleep Foundation, Keeping an organized and comfortable bedroom can help you sleep better. Here are 8 ways to keep your space for sleep more organized, allowing your sleep better overall:
- Get rid of all electronics. This includes the television, cell phones, ipads, ipods, etc
- Use light bulbs that are 60 watts or less in your lamps and overhead lights
- Create an area of darkness: make sure curtains black out sunlight;
- Check the mattress you are sleeping on for wear and tear; Look at it and lay on it: Is it sagging? Consider replacing the mattress if you wake with up with back pain
- Replace worn sheets
- Check that pillows are soft, fluffy, and supportive; A pillow that is too firm can be super uncomfortable and render you in pain when you wake up. Also make sure you are getting good neck support under your cervical (neck) spine.
- Keep your bedroom cool by using a fan
- De-clutter your room by clearing out furniture and things you don't need
